Mural

Thank you to everyone who brought in bottletops to us this year. We have started the project and have decided to give you all a little preview of our mural!
Hope you like it!

Good luck Cavan!

Cavan are playing against Armagh this weekend in the Ulster championship.
Andy brought the Anglo Celt cup to school which is what the Ulster champs get. We did some research and found out that Cavan is the most successful Ulster county, having won the cup 39 times.
Hopefully it will come back to Cavan this year.
We took some photos of future county footballers with the cup, maybe one day they will lift it for the county!

On the radio..

RIOT were interviewed by Sean Mc Caffrey yesterday morning. Everyone was asked a question and then the class performed the cup song in English and Irish.
Listen to "The Breakfast Roll" tomorrow morning from 7.45 a.m to hear our public debut!

On the radio!

On Monday morning, Northern Sound will be coming to interview 6th class about R.I.O.T (our Junior Entrepreneur project)!
We will be asked lots of questions and we will perform the cup song in English and Irish for them.
We have already been given an award for "Presentation and content of product".
Photos will be taken as well and the Anglo Celt will have an article about all the award recipients in Co. Cavan.
We are very excited about it all! The piece will not be live so hopefully we will get a chance to hear ourselves!

Camping trip!

5th and 6th class went to Castle Saunderson Scout Centre last Thursday as a reward for all their hard work on the Junior Entrepreneur Project.
We arrived on Thursday morning, then we participated in outdoor activities.
The children pitched their own tents, cooked and served dinner, after which we went for a walk to the castle ruins.
When we came back, the leaders, Brendan and John had a campfire lit.
Hot chocolate and smores were enjoyed before bedtime!
Photos and stories to follow.........

Giggles galore!

We tried a laughter experiment today!
Based on the idea that laughter is good for you, we started off with fake laughing; soon enough it was very real!
Then we conducted a group experiment; one person lying on the floor with another person's head on their tummy, they fake laughed. It was very contagious and even those not involved were laughing at those who were on the floor!
Your brain releases endorphins, (feel-good hormones), when you laugh, but it doesn't know the difference between real and pretend laughing, so you benefit either way.
Look at the fun we had. Give it a go yourselves at home, it's fun!
