The first point I would like to raise is....

6th class, you  have been presented with your first motion for debate, you will have to either propose or oppose the motion "we should all be vegetarian".
Each team will have a captain, 1st and 2nd speakers.
You will have to speak for 1-3 minutes on the topic.
Points will be given for content and delivery, and you may lose marks for interrupting another speaker.
You should do some research but when you use information, make sure it is in your own words.
Practice in front of your family or a mirror to improve your presentation.
Try out these links to help you further.

Art or vandalism?

The debate as to whether graffiti is art or vandalism is a topical one.
We will have a class debate at a later stage to decide!
We looked at some examples of street art from the artist Banksy.
He has "tagged" many buildings and walls in his native Bristol in England.

There are some examples of street art in Cavan too.
Oisín took some photos for us.
If you find any more, we would love to know about it!

Anne Frank

During the 2 years that Anne Frank spent in hiding in the secret annexe; through a window in the attic that was not blacked out, Anne could see the sky, birds and the chestnut tree. She wrote about the tree in her diary “Our chestnut tree is in full bloom. It’s covered with leaves and is even more beautiful than last year.”
The tree which was Anne's only link to the world of nature, has now sadly fallen.
Have a look at these websites to see how people were affected by the war.

Welcome back!

A warm welcome to all our students after a lovely summer!

6th class are straight to work, and have to deduce the meaning of some idioms.
Idioms have meanings that can't be figured out by looking up the words in the dictionary.
They have meanings that are understood by people who speak that language.

Here are a few links to websites that help explain the meading of some popular idioms.

Final Assembly

Goodbye 6th class.
We will always remember you.

Final Assembly

Tomorrow we will hold the final assembly for 6th class.
Parents are invited to attend, and siblings are also welcome.
We will be raising our new Green Flag at 1.15, followed by the assembly.
5th class will be serving refreshments (and tissues!!) afterwards.
If anyone has a 1st Communion photo of 6th class I would appreciate if you could email it to me A.S.A.P as I don't have one.
See you all tomorrow...
