More history!

Eibhlín talked about homes in the past and had a model of a thatched cottage as well as a slideshow to give us her research.

Denis told us some very interesting facts about Ancient Greece. Did you know they invented the handshake?

Ella researched Ameila Earhart and had lots of facts about her important flights. 

Amy also researched Amelia Earhart and made a model of her plane.

Jake told us about gods and godesses from Greek mythology.

Holly researched Amelia Earhart and made a model plane. She presented her information on a poster. 

Martynas looked into Bunratty castle in county Clare. he had lots of information about who used to own it.

 

History projects

 4th class have been busy making history topics.

They chose the topic for themselves and spent 2 weeks researching and compiling their findings. 

John Ruddy, the historian came on Monday and talked to the class about their ideas and gave some tips. 

Here's some of the first projects that have been shown to the class.

Annabel interviewed Ms. Prior to learn more about our school.

Clara made a thatched cottage and explained how and why these were very common in Ireland long ago.

Roland presented a slideshow about the spread of Christianity and used maps to show how it travelled across the world.

Isaac presented a slideshow about the Roman empire and showed maps of how large it was. He told us about the Colosseum.

Charlie made a poster about Ancient Greece and has drawn a picture of Mount Olympus which was a very important site in Greek mythology.

Charlotte researched Amelia Earhart and showed a map of her final attept to fly around the globe which sadly did not end well. She landed in Derry in 1932 and became the fist woman to fly across the Atlantic.

Meet the composer....

Xavier was given the challenge to compose his own piece of music. As a trad musician, he has been playing other people's pieces, now he got a chance to teach his classmates his own work!

I think you'll agree that it is lovely, we were all very impressed!

Busy 4th class....

 We've been very busy lately!

We did the Food Dudes programme where we ate fruit and veg daily; and to finish, we made our own smoothies at school. They were delicious! 😋 

We got new playground equipment, a swing, mud kitchen, climbing frame and workbench. 

We also had a spell of fabulous weather so we got some vitamin D while playing outside.

On top of all that, Seanan from Music Generation brought his electric guitar and all the kit with him to school. We thought he looked like Elvis! he sang "Happy Birthday" to Amber and we all joined in!
