The Anne Frank Tree

During the 2 years that Anne Frank spent in hiding in the secret annexe, through a window in the attic that was not blacked out, Anne could see the sky, birds and the chestnut tree. She wrote about the tree in her diary “Our chestnut tree is in full bloom. It’s covered with leaves and is even more beautiful than last year.”
The tree which was Anne's only link to the world of nature, has now sadly fallen.

Hi , when we were learning about the moon, I thought it was very interesting, so I looked the moon up and I found this cool fact: the moon is actually moving away from earth at a rate of 1.5 inches per year!!

Anne Frank spent two years in the secret annex.Anne did not write in her diary every day but most days she did.She mainly wrote about longing to go out and play or know that she was free to do whatever she wanted to do,what she had once. The only thing connecting her to the world outside was the horse-chestnut tree that stood outside the attic window. The tree was over 170 years old, also the oldest tree in Amsterdam. The "Anne Frank tree" has now fallen but some supporters have asked to take some conkers and plant them at Anne inspired schools, streets and other places. It has been unstable for a while but some people have kept it up with steel bars.
