We started with the arrival of Stone Age people to Coleraine in 7000 B.C.In 3000 B.C, Neolithic man cleared forests so that they could keep livestock.
The Céide fields in Mayo are evidence of this early agriculture.
Around the same time (give or take a few hundred years!!) the world-famous Newgrange passage tomb was constructed. It is thought to be one of the oldest structural sites in the world.
