The Anne Frank Tree

During the 2 years that Anne Frank spent in hiding in the secret annexe, through a window in the attic that was not blacked out, Anne could see the sky, birds and the chestnut tree. She wrote about the tree in her diary “Our chestnut tree is in full bloom. It’s covered with leaves and is even more beautiful than last year.”
The tree which was Anne's only link to the world of nature, has now sadly fallen.

WW II

Having been to the Anne Frank exhibition, and read about her life and of the suffering of the Jews,  we are very aware of the tragedy that was WW II.
Now though, we are looking at it from a different perspective. We read an excerpt from Carrie's War, about a child that was evacuated from London during the Blitz.
We are currently listening to an audio-book by Michael Morpurgo, called  The Amazing Story of  Adolphus Tips which is based on a  teenage girl writing her diary in a village which the Allied Forces have taken over to practice their attack on France to defeat the German army.

On Monday I brought in some clothes from Nigeria because we are doing a project about Africa. I brought in a boys and a girl clothes. I try the girls clothes on Shauna and the boys clothes on Orla. We went to all the classes and showed them the clothes. In Nigeria we wear clothes like ero, buba and abada. The abada is for the boys and the ero and buba is for girls. We were this clothes to party, church and wedding and you can also were it in your house if you want. There are different types of language in Nigeria. And all the languages are Ebo, Yoroba and Awosa. My language is Yoroba and the food we it is eba, amala and pounded yam. But thats just the traditional food. We don’t all wear the same clothes and eat the same food. I don’t really know the food that Ebo eat. But I know the food that Awosa eat they eat towo. Nigeria is a really fun place to be in. You will love it and the money is much cheaper than Ireland money.
